I grew up on Kyushu, an island in the south of Japan. With a Japanese father and a British mother, I got to know both Eastern and Western cultures. Before I continued my studies, I took an intensive English course in London for a few weeks, because my education had been completely in Japanese up until then. I was afraid that my written English would not be good enough to follow a study. Eventually, I ended up in Groningen for my physiotherapy studies, and that is where I also started learning Dutch!
There is a large Japanese community in Amstelveen. For them, a Japanese physiotherapist is of course ideal. I enjoy treating people from my home country. Japanese culture is very respectful towards others. You will not hear me say: “I am the expert, and I will solve this for you.” I believe that people ultimately know their own body best. My role is to support and advise them. I myself suffered a serious whiplash in a car accident when I was 17. As a result, I know better than anyone what it is like to be a patient and how I would like to be approached.
In my spare time I play football in the queer league. I really appreciate how the LGBTQ+ community is embraced by Wijs. Where else would you find an employer that so prominently hangs the rainbow flag?
I am fascinated by the lower back, where many muscles work together. Because complaints often occur in this area, my treatment focuses on insight into the cause, targeted exercises and building confidence in your body. By making the body stronger, you can experience more freedom in your movement step by step.
In addition, I have a great deal of interest and expertise in treating the neck and jaw. These areas are closely connected and work together with the upper back to keep the body healthy and balanced. My approach focuses on restoring balance, reducing tension and improving the cooperation between these zones. By making the body stronger, complaints are reduced and confidence in your body returns.

Each have a different style but have really helped me a lot with my back pain. Highly recommend 🩷 Luis César Rivera2024-09-04 I went in for physiotherapist sessions.
