Lots of exercise is something you grew up with, right?

My father was a general practitioner and understood very well that I had to get rid of my energy somewhere. We lived in Amsterdam-Noord on the Schellingwouderdijk where I was always playing outside, but I also played football and skated. I still do a lot of sports: I run, play football at SV de Meer and in the winter you can sometimes find me at the Jaap Edenbaan. Hiking in the mountains is also a big hobby of mine. The fact that I wanted to do something with the human body was a logical choice for me. I hesitated between Medicine and Physiotherapy and after an internship at high school with a physiotherapist, I was convinced. This is the right thing for me.

Do you ever consult with your father?

Yes, quite regularly. If someone is taking medication or has an ailment that I want to know more about. But also when you refer to a GP and how you can best communicate then. It is of course very useful to have such a short line.

What do you like about working at Wijs?

What strikes me is that everyone wants to learn from each other. If one of us takes a course, everyone learns along. That was also one of the reasons I wanted to work here. In my other job at the KNVB, I mainly see knees. They are very interesting, I like to work on legs and muscle injuries anyway. But now that I want to do a Master manual , it is important to me to come into contact with as many other parts of the body as possible. Apart from all the techniques that I am going to learn during the training, I learn along with all my colleagues. And I think that is really great.
