What are your areas of interest?

I am dedicated to treating and supporting women through their pregnancy and postpartum journey. Many women experience physical challenges during and after pregnancy that can leave them feeling self-conscious about their bodies and pain. My goal as a physical therapist is to empower women by helping them understand the root cause of their discomfort and providing them with the tools to manage and relieve their symptoms. Everyone has a pelvic floor, and it is often forgotten and overlooked when assessing hip, lower back, and pelvic issues. I treat both men and women with symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction.

How do you approach treatments?

While manual therapy is a part of my approach, I also focus on teaching healthy posture and ergonomic habits. My background in Pilates and rehabilitation is the foundation of my training style, allowing me to integrate mobility, posture, and core strengthening to ensure my clients achieve strength and control through a full range of motion.

Understanding posture is essential, not only to prevent discomfort, but also to improve overall well-being and performance in daily activities, including sports. It is important to emphasize that you do not have to be in a neutral position all the time; developing awareness of your body’s position and its effects is key. Proper posture allows for optimal movement, reduces the risk of injury, and helps manage physical imbalances that can cause pain. By educating my clients on the importance of posture, I give them the tools to make conscious choices in their daily routines—whether at work, during sports, or during everyday tasks. This foundational knowledge leads to improved strength, better mobility, and a healthier lifestyle, allowing people to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Can you tell us something about yourself?

I have hypermobility and find that I am in my best health when I follow a regular strength training protocol that focuses on strength, range of motion, and control. Because of my background in Pilates and movement, I like to incorporate Pilates principles into my strength training. Mostly, I exercise for my mental health, as I generally have a much better day after working out! I believe that taking time for yourself to appreciate your body and what it can achieve is a more sustainable approach to movement than any aesthetic goal.

When I’m not working with clients or playing sports, I enjoy exploring new interests and activities. I enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures. I also appreciate mindful activities that promote relaxation and creativity. As an expat, the community of friends and colleagues I’ve found in Amsterdam has become my mini-family, so I’m always up for a sunny terrace and a beer with friends.
