Haha, that could be true. I lived in a city of eight million people in China from the age of five to eighteen, where I was part of a small international community. That’s why my English has become kind of vaguely British, no one can place where I come from.
When I started studying physiotherapy here in 2019, I also had to get used to it! In my eyes, Amsterdam was a village. I really missed the hustle and bustle, the liveliness, the chaos and the fantastic Chinese food! In the meantime, I have come to appreciate life here enormously. It is so easy to get from A to B and everything is well organised here. The freedom you have here is also fantastic of course. I am now doing my best to learn to speak the language fluently.
During high school I was allowed to shadow a physiotherapist in Bangladesh. That’s when I really saw that physiotherapy can completely change people’s lives. Children with club feet or brain damage who otherwise wouldn’t have stood a chance, made dramatic improvements. Helping someone from Amsterdam train for a marathon may not be quite the same, but being able to move well is still incredibly important for everyone.
I am now specializing in the pelvic area and especially related to pregnancy. It is a misconception that you cannot just exercise when you are pregnant. In principle you can do everything with an adjustment here and there! Also after giving birth I help mothers with the Wijs Moms class to get back in shape as quickly as possible. Being fit always feels better!
Ann M H2024-10-30 Love this physio, always feel really safe and listened to. I’ve worked with a number of the physios, Nadia, Ellie, Patrcija. Each have a different style but have really helped me a lot with my back pain. Highly recommend 🩷 Luis César Rivera2024-09-04 I went in for physiotherapist sessions.
