Jaw physiotherapy, also known as orofacial therapy, is a specialized branch of physiotherapy focused on treating disorders of the jaw, face, and neck. Treatment typically includes jaw muscle mobilization, massage, targeted exercises, posture correction, and, in some cases, dry needling.
Approximately one in five people experience jaw-related issues at some point in their lives. These may include pain in the jaw joint, popping or clicking sounds while chewing, or difficulty opening the mouth fully. What many people do not realize is that jaw dysfunction can contribute to a range of other head and neck complaints, such as tinnitus, earaches, headaches, neck pain, and migraines. Since all muscles in this region are interconnected, tension or imbalance in the jaw can affect surrounding areas.
