Can you tell us something about yourself?

I grew up in Brabant, but spent a large part of my youth at dance academies. My life revolved around movement and the relationship with my body, along with challenges such as coping with my scoliosis and mental pressure. The decision not to continue as a professional dancer was not easy. Yet, it was precisely this step that led me to working with people and in care, something that has proven to be a greater enrichment in my life than I could ever have imagined.

Over the past few years, I have been able to beautifully bring my passions together. I currently work as a physiotherapist and health coordinator at the ballet academy in Amsterdam and am also involved in various musical productions.

Can you tell us something about your treatment style?

In my treatments, the person as a whole is central. I look not only at the biomedical aspect of a complaint, but also at the person behind it: what someone has been through and which factors may contribute to the development or persistence of complaints. My own experiences have shaped me into an empathetic person who looks not only at the physical complaint, but also at the mental and emotional factors at play.

With the various tools at my disposal – such as movement therapy, Pilates, hands-on techniques, dry needling, mindfulness, and counseling – I create a tailored treatment plan. No two treatment paths are the same, but trust and collaboration always form the foundation.

Drawing on my background, I enjoy adding a playful element to the treatment. I help people step out of their comfort zone and find (or regain) confidence and strength in their bodies. In doing so, I view the Pilates equipment as a valuable ‘playing field’ for discovering and developing movement.

What are your areas of interest?

The versatility of the human being and our adaptive capacity continue to amaze me. I do not believe that there is one right or wrong way to move, but rather that through the right stimuli and insights, we can allow the body to grow and develop. Body awareness and the connection between body and mind interest me enormously. I continue to develop myself within these areas so that I can guide my clients as effectively as possible and help them on their way to sustainable movement habits.
