At Wijs, Pilates is more than a workout. It is an effective and versatile form of movement training. Rooted in body awareness, alignment, breath, and control, it builds deep strength, improves posture, and teaches you to move with a confidence that carries into everything you do.
Pilates can be precise and meditative one moment, dynamic and genuinely demanding the next. Often both within the same session. Whatever your pace, whatever your level, every movement has a purpose.
Whether you lift weights, run, cycle, or do nothing at all yet, Pilates adds something most training methods do not prioritise: a deep focus on the stabilising muscles of the trunk, spine, hips, and shoulders, the ones that quietly hold everything together. It does not replace what you already do. It makes it work better.
When those foundations are strong, everything else improves with them. And it works both ways. Pilates can inform your gym training. Your gym training can inform your Pilates. The two speak to each other more than most people realise.
A regular Pilates practice can help you:
At Wijs, we prioritise quality over quantity. Every repetition has intention.
We offer three ways to experience Pilates, depending on your goals and how you like to work.
Private sessions are built entirely around you. Your body, your history, your goals. Our teachers draw on their backgrounds in physiotherapy and/or certified Pilates training to design sessions that are precise, progressive, and tailored to what you need. Depending on what your body needs that day, you might work entirely on the reformer, or move fluidly between the full range of apparatus (reformer, tower, chair, ladder barrel, and trapeze table). You will receive hands-on guidance, detailed feedback, and a clear path forward. Ideal for beginners who want to learn the foundations properly or anyone who simply values focused, undivided attention.
Like private sessions, you may work on a single piece of apparatus or move through a combination of equipment depending on what works best for both of you. It is focused, enjoyable, and a wonderful way to stay accountable whilst pressing forward with your fitness goals.
Classes are taught on the reformer, the tower, or a combination of both, giving each session a different texture and keeping your training varied and progressive. Expect programming that challenges you without overwhelming you. There is real energy in training together, and our classes have it.

Our team brings together physiotherapists and certified Pilates instructors. Different backgrounds, the same standards, and a shared commitment to staying current with the latest thinking in movement and health science.
Our instructors focus on:
We start by understanding where you are. We adapt as you progress. And we push you encouragingly and purposefully towards the best version of what your body can do. Not someone else’s version, but yours.
Everyone. Genuinely, and we mean that without caveats.
Pilates has a reputation for being something dancers do, or something predominantly for women. We believe Joseph Pilates himself would have disagreed. He built his method working with soldiers and male athletes, and it is designed for anybody who wants to move well, stay resilient, and feel strong from the inside out. Men and women benefit equally. Are you:
Then you can benefit from Pilates.
Are you dealing with an injury, chronic pain, or recovering from surgery? In this case, our Clinical Pilates program might be a better fit to start.
There is no fitness level you need to reach before you are ready. No shape your body needs to be in. Our full range of apparatus: reformers, tower, chair, ladder barrel, and trapeze table gives us the tools to adapt every exercise to every person.
Pilates meets you where you are. And grows with you from there.
