I was born in Amsterdam East, in the Onze Lieve Vrouwen Gasthuis Oost (OLVG-Oost). My entire youth I have done various sports, such as football, judo, basketball and sailing. At the age of 13 I moved to Hilversum with my parents and this is where my passion for Capoeira began. Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art in which culture, history and music also play an important role. This together makes it such a fantastic whole.
Capoeira reminds me every time how important strength, mobility and coordination are. This is also how my fascination for the human body arose. With the experience of Capoeira I know how the body can move, but also how it sometimes needs something extra to be able to continue. I also apply this to many of my clients. Strength, mobility and coordination are my main points of attention with every client. Nowadays people are fortunately more and more physically active, then I can often get them closer to their goal with small adjustments. I try to enthuse my clients who are not yet so physically active, because I know how good it feels when your body functions well, but this always requires some time and effort.
Since 2024, my colleague Daan and I have joined the Trauma Rehabilitation Network Amsterdam. We help patients who have been involved in a physical trauma. This can be because someone has slipped and broken a bone, or patients after a multiple trauma, for example a serious car accident, in which someone sometimes has broken multiple bones and possibly neurological damage. In order to be allowed to join the network, we have followed specific courses to be able to guide this category of patients. Since we joined the network, we have also had more contact with orthopedic surgeons, which means that we also guide more patients after planned operations (e.g. ACL reconstruction or meniscectomy)
